Case #35: Video

[Now back to your regularly scheduled George. Who is looking slightly wary.]

Did I happen to fall prey to one of those comas? Only I can't quite remember anything about the last several days. Also, it appears as though someone has been sitting in my chair.

[Item one: chair. It doesn't look particularly sat in.]

And I also have reason to believe that someone has been sleeping in my bed!

[Item two: bed. It has been carefully made.]

I don't keep any porridge in my room, unfortunately, so I'm afraid I haven't gotten any solid proof, but I have got my suspicions...

...really?

[George is sort of thrilled to be exotic.]

...Yeah?

[pause] then again I'm from California so it's...yeah. We don't get a lot of canucks.

I'm also from 1898. That's a bit important.

[Carla purses her lips together]

...You a vampire?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
...No, I'm a police constable. As I've said.

[identity profile] officerrenaldi.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
...Your age. [She sounds strained-if patient. These things happen] The kinpin of the LA area was born in the 1800s according to the undercover unit.

[smile]

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh? Er. I'm thirty-one. Recently.

[identity profile] officerrenaldi.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I'm 23.

[she stares] You don't have the eyes or fangs. You can't be a vampire.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm quite certain I'm not. Even if I did give some of my blood to one.

[identity profile] officerrenaldi.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
[This does not phase her] Voluntarily right?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, and he wasn't a real vampire: he had the hemophilia, and so was masquerading as a vampire, so as to obtain transfusions.

He wasn't secretly Dracula, and he didn't murder anyone, although I do still suspect actual Dracula slightly. Only slightly. He's quite gentlemanly in the flesh.

[identity profile] officerrenaldi.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
...Actual dracula? Actual Drac-

[pause]

...He's not running an overbearing gang of guys looking to deal blood and drugs to people while taking over the valley is he?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
No? He just sort of...goes around being well-dressed and more or less polite.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Detective Hoffman. Have you met him?

[identity profile] officerrenaldi.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Detective?

...An Inmate Detective? [Her tone bristles. She sounds instantly angry] What'd the fucker do?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe it's for me to say specifically, but he became disillusioned with the criminal justice system, essentially, after suffering a rather personal loss.

[Then he horribly killed some folks!]

[identity profile] officerrenaldi.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
....Really? Fuck that's what you go to the gym for. You hit shit every time a perp gets away or shoot something. That's what I do. Nothing like a good time at the firing range.

[She frowns] ...Sorry. It's ingrained for me to hate...My dad...my whole family works or has worked for various police departments. We don't take guys who break the wall well.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm certainly not trying to make any excuses for his past behavior, but he was at one time a very good police officer. He simply became lost. And that is a shame.

[identity profile] officerrenaldi.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah. [pssssh] That's what all the guys say.

Sadly that's what all the guys were too. My dad says either the really way too good cops go bad or the really crappy ones do.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a rather discomforting thought.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It implies an awful lot of personal loss.
