Case #26: Video

[George is stood in his room. If it seems more well lit than usual...it is. Because ghosts can't haunt you in the light; too see-through.]

I think the obvious solution is to hold one to several seances. Whom on board is the most sensitive?

We might also try to catch one of the spirits mid-haunt and try to communicate with it there, but that would require everybody turning out their lights and being quite quiet, luckily, rather late at night. Would anybody else be interested in taking part in such an investigation? ...because I wouldn't like to undertake one alone.

they actually need to try this

The problem there is predicting where these spirits will go next. Also, finding someone to spend an extensive length of time in someone else's side rooms while waiting for the resident to come home. I wouldn't trust most volunteers.

That is a good point. Perhaps people could work in teams. One usually has a partner on a stake-out. More eyes make for better results.

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. Find more people who are interested, and have sufficient courage. ...though we should also pursue your first idea as well. I never thought I could be sensitive to spirits until recently, but we could at least attempt it.

Meeting some. Though I'm not sure if they're the same type.

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Physically? It varied greatly. By nature they were repressed memory and emotion. I can understand why such creatures might be here. They were entirely malevolent when I saw them, but in a place like this, where people come to terms with who they were, they're likely less so.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
How interesting. What did they look like?

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Vaguely humanoid or animal-like in shape, often formed out of inanimate objects, strangely enough. [as if she's working it out for herself as she speaks with George] These aren't likely to be the type we're looking for, however. A haze signaled their arrival, but the ash above deck hasn't drifted down here yet. Do you have any experience with the supernatural?

Our Ms. Pensell is a medium.

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
You've seen a channelling done?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but Detective Murdoch has.

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
If he's not here, he can't help us. Do you know anyone here who could be of any use? I can't say I do, except slightly by reputation.

Have them hold their communicator out in front of them to see what they see. Then they can't make things up.

way to miss the point

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I could trust them to report accurately. But I wouldn't trust them to not abuse being left alone in someone else's room, no matter what their status aboard was.
darknessb4me: (oh no u dint)

he has a doctorate in missing the point

[personal profile] darknessb4me 2011-10-05 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)

With surprising our visitors, or the seance George is planning?

Your project. [Seances are for babies u_u]

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Clearly a little sketched out; you'd do better with seances she thinks.] I'm afraid I'll need more volunteers before it gets off the ground.

Let me know. It's a good plan. Practical. The only trouble you might have is predicting what door will be effected and when; you can't keep constant surveillance on all of them.

[identity profile] nicebluehat.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly why I was searching for more men. Do you know anyone who may be interested?

Well, Drake will do whatever I ask him to, so that's two. I'll have to see about more.

Drake? [Can he handle it?]

He's a competent caster. [Granted not the brightest tool in the shed, but a competent caster.]

I'm not so concerned with supernatural abilities as ability to keep one's head in a crisis.
