Case #22: Video

[Someone looks nauseous. (It's George.) He's walking somewhat unsteadily through a hallway.]

Mr. Spinola? If you could just...let me know that you remain unharmed... I'm not sure what it is I might have done to deserve my removal as your warden, but I am...I am sorry.

I...need to locate Mr. Slater.

...

I think I may be sick.

[And George is gentlemanly enough to turn the camera away.]

I'm not wandering; I'm outside of your door. We are practically neighbors.

Bed =/= outside my door.

Did you throw up outside my door?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No.

...

Not yet. Could I come in and sit down?

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Few moments later, and a worn looking Slater opens the door, still where is shirt and trousers, but his tie is off and he's wearing a dressing gown. He steps back to let him in.] In.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

[George slinks into the room. His colour improves almost immediately.]

It seems to be passing somewhat.

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Slater just nods and slumps into his chair of his own. After a moment or two...] Tea?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe I could manage one.

[George is looking more himself by the minute.]

Are you quite alright?

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Slater pulls himself back out the chair.] Better than I was a second ago. [So queasiness on top of everything else is gone. He boils his plastic kettle.]

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps there's a touch of food poisoning going around. Through no fault of the kitchen staff, of course, these things just happen on long voyages. Is that kettle made of wax?

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
An' sitting down's the cure?

[The kettle starts to boil.] Wax melts.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No, just time.

[George eyes the kettle.]

I know, that's why I asked. You didn't happen to request a new warden, did you?

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-29 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't take as long as it takes to walk from my door to my chair to cure somebody.

No. I've done nothing.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-29 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The human body can be a mystery.

[George removes his notebook from where it lives wedged between his belt and his hip.]

Ah. It's just:

[He flips it open to the first page, where the name "Eddie Spinola" has been crossed out, and "Roy Slater" has been written. The handwriting is very careful, and, in case you were wondering, is George's, although he did not write it.]

Not that I mind chatting with you.

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Or we're on a ship that makes weird things happen.

[He shrugs.] Nothing to do with me.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps there's some sort of chemical in the hallway...

[And George moves toward the door...]

Mr. Slater? I...appear to be unable to move any farther...

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Slater feels the pressure to move, but doesn't. He frowns in the thought.] Yeah, well, I'm not going out into the hallway. There was an announcement from the Admiral. Something's sus, but it ain't man made.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You think it might be a symptom of the flood?

[George paces slowly along his invisible border.]

A flood which, but giving everyone nausea, encourages them to stay in your rooms? Well you aren't going to have near enough chairs.

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Seein' as there's nobody here bar you, that's dumb. You don't take in the scene as a whole, George, before you focus on the details, I mean, your logic, there are no tigers here must mean there's 'tiger repellin'' flood happenin'!

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That would only make sense if there were tigers on board regularly.

[George's logic makes sense to George okay.]

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't make sense at all!

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That could be said for a lot of things around here. I try not to think about it or I'd never get anything done.

[George returns to Slater's side.]

You think it's only affecting you and I? Some sort of sticking us together flood?

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You've only got my name on that book.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[George taps his fingers against his notebook.]

Thank goodness for small favors.

Well. If this lasts into the night I suppose I'll take the floor. Or we could move to my rooms and you could take my bed and I'll set something up with the bathtub.

[identity profile] thinkb4ublink.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not goin' in your tub. If we're doing the involuntary togetherness, then the inmate showers are close enough an' private enough that it'd work better.

An' I gotta sofa bed. [He points.] That thing turns into a normal bed if you fold it out.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no. I was going to sleep in the tub. I hadn't thought about washing up, but I think that's a good point.

[George eyes the sofa like it might transform in front of him.]

Does it really?
