Case #4: Video

From the looks of things, everybody else's parents have shown up.

[George's expression clearly reads: well isn't this all good natured-ly humourous?, but it doesn't quite reach any of his edges. George is in George's room, and for once he isn't dressed in his constable's uniform. Oh George, did you misunderstand this flood and go back to wait in your room dressed in your good grey suit thinking that mother might show up? You did, didn't you?]

Does anybody know where the people whose parents have shown up have gotten to? Only I haven't heard a thing out of any of them, and this is certainly the sort of thing you'd expect a person to say a thing about. ...Not that I think there's any cause for worry. I'm sure they're perfectly fine. And it's a pleasure to have you here, Mr. or Mrs. ...your child's name.

Should anybody need a hand, or a police officer for any reason, I'm George Crabtree, and I still am one.

I'd quite like to know where Neil's got to. It's been a week, and he's still...

I just want to talk to him.

Are you Sergeant Howie's mother? He's a very fine officer, ma'am, as I'm sure you already know.

Um, he's here, but I'm afraid he's not here right now?

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, he is. A fine young man, really.

I gathered that, but he's gone missing at home, and if this is where to, he needs to come home.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
He will, I'm sure. He'll probably be home before you know it.

Is there something the matter, or are you just missing him?

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
He... was supposed to be home days ago. He went to investigate a crime, and has never come back.

This is... so unlike him.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't suppose it's really like anyone to just drop everything and fly away in a big space boat, but it's the sort of chance you really can't pass up.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
He's supposed to get married next week. He doesn't walk away from things.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
He didn't say he was engaged. Congratuations to him!

this is before she knows. for convenience and humour.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, provided he actually makes it.

And didn't he? It was all he could talk about last time I spoke to him.

I am so sorry George is not in the know Mrs. Neil's mom.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but I think it's understandable to want to play that sort of thing close to the chest on the job. The lads might get it in their heads to drag him on some sort of well meaning but embarrassing night out.

[It is in George's head now!]

Also: a week away, he's probably nervous and trying to ward bad luck off.

[George thinks too well of Howie to suggest he might have cold feet.]

it's okay. howie wibbles a little, but AWH YOU'RE NICE, GEORGE.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm fairly sure his constable had that one planned from the beginning.

[Shudder. Hugh McTaggart's stag night is a scary thought.]

...Again, that'd make sense if he...

He'll make it. I know him, he will.

You can still have a party even if you're dead

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-05-10 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Our station would do the same. Although I don't suppose we'll have any cause to now...

That's the spirit, ma'am.

they are the BEST parties.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2011-05-10 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Policemen are the same everywhere.

Why wouldn't you have cause to?

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-05-10 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Our detective and his sweetheart are...on the outs back home. And none of us other lads have sweethearts that I know of.

Although I suppose Higgins might still keep in touch with those conjoined girls. But I don't see how that could work.

[identity profile] kingfor-aday.livejournal.com 2011-05-10 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, that's... a shame.

I don't even... I won't ask, actually.

[identity profile] 19centconstable.livejournal.com 2011-05-10 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It is.

It seems very complicated to me as well.
