Case #4: Video

From the looks of things, everybody else's parents have shown up.

[George's expression clearly reads: well isn't this all good natured-ly humourous?, but it doesn't quite reach any of his edges. George is in George's room, and for once he isn't dressed in his constable's uniform. Oh George, did you misunderstand this flood and go back to wait in your room dressed in your good grey suit thinking that mother might show up? You did, didn't you?]

Does anybody know where the people whose parents have shown up have gotten to? Only I haven't heard a thing out of any of them, and this is certainly the sort of thing you'd expect a person to say a thing about. ...Not that I think there's any cause for worry. I'm sure they're perfectly fine. And it's a pleasure to have you here, Mr. or Mrs. ...your child's name.

Should anybody need a hand, or a police officer for any reason, I'm George Crabtree, and I still am one.

Floods rarely are, but I don't think this one is really a chart topper on a list of Most Traumatic Things to Happen on the Barge.

What would you say was? If it's not too painful to recount, that is.

For me, personally? Probably the one we had a few weeks ago, where everyone affected was younger. But I've only been here for six months or so, so I'm sure there've been worse ones.

That doesn't sound so bad at all. There are getting to be days when I wouldn't mind being in my early twenties again, I can tell you.

The Admiral picked a bad time in my life to send me back to. The flood where most of the wardens turned into kids was sort of the same story.

I see. Well that would change matters, of course.

And a boat full of children could quickly become trying.

I think everyone who was unaffected was pretty excited when things went back to normal, yeah.

It's only good that some were left unaffected at all. Not that children can't get along on their own; they often can.

Do you know: has there ever been a flood where nobody was unaffected?
