Case #41: Video
[George looks much less youthfully enthusiastic than usual. And sad. Try as he might, he can't quite help but look sad.]
I'm sorry to have to be the bearer of this, but I'm afraid Miss Jane Brunswick has elected to return home. If anyone was wondering.

Re: [Spam]
...And then bursts out laughing.]
Oh my goodness! Miss Brunswick and I? No, no, no. In fact, she was quite in love with that Mr. Eddie Russett, I believe. Do you remember him? He had feelings for her as well, but he's engaged to be married back home, which is a terrible situation. But myself and Jane? No.
Re: [Spam]
...I dunno, I figured...
[Transfer much Hoffman? And he looks ashamed. Then.]
I'm glad you're okay.
Re: [Spam]
[And next season there will be one more, George Crabtree, you manwhore.]
At any rate: the trouble with a relationship with someone from here is seeing the future in it.
Re: [Spam]
...They chose to leave. Or they're taken from you.
[His voice is soft] I'm glad you've got somebody. I was concerned.
Re: [Spam]
[George gives him a look.]
You're beginning to sound like my aunt, Detective.
[Which one? All 900 of them.]
Re: [Spam]
[He looks chagrined.]
...I suppose it would be unfair.
Re: [Spam]
And there's no shame in being a bachelor.
Re: [Spam]
It's hard not to become attached to people here and the kindness that they offer. You're right though. It's...unfair to expect someone to conform.
[He leans back and smiles] Don't get too stuck on being a bachelor man. When the right chick shows up you ought to take a minute to settle down. When we were on that other barge, I was married.
Re: [Spam]
Re: [Spam]
[His mouth twitches upward, smiling.] ...I liked being married to Alison in another universe. If it turns out she was pregnant when we broke up..
[His brow furrows] George do you think it'd be right to go back in time for a reason? Like if you saw a mistake you made and you had a chance to go back..would you?
Re: [Spam]
Re: [Spam]
...So even...even if you knew that something good could come from it you wouldn't do it?
Re: [Spam]
Re: [Spam]
It's too bad. I-
I dunno. That other me with his kid. That was kind of nice.
Re: [Spam]
I know this, as I have been one.
Re: [Spam]
[he stops] So were you though. [he pauses and sighs] I was thinking...If it turned out Alison was...if she was going to have a kid. If I graduated..
[He was thinking about this] If I graduated an inmate...I could go back, and...Alison and I could...
[His hand clenches.] It's all right. It's fine. I'm glad you're okay.
